The Philadelphia Soul and the Portland Steel will meet on
Sunday afternoon at the Wells Fargo Center. The Soul (1-1) will look to get
back on track after getting throttled by the Sharks last week. Portland (0-2)
is looking to get a victory after two losses to begin the season.
The Steel
started the season by getting romped, 80-28 at the hands of the Arizona
Rattlers. Portland was faced with another tough matchup in Week 2, when they
faced the Orlando Predators. The Steel exceeded expectations in that game, but
they came up short, losing 53-50.
The Soul will also look to get back on track
at home, as they’ve been automatic at the Wells Fargo Center the past few
years. Philadelphia’s offense was completely dominated last week. Dan
Raudabaugh threw for 356 yards and three touchdowns last week, to increase his
season totals to 539 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Wide receiver Darius Reynolds
will look to continue his hot start, he has 208 yards and six touchdowns this
year. The Steel will look for more consistent play from its offense.
Quarterback Danny Southwick has 468 yards and eight touchdowns this year.
Portland does not have a clear number one option at receiver, but so far, Tom Gilson
and Jared Perry have been their best options. Both have combined for five touchdown
receptions on the season. While they did get stomped on last week, Philadelphia
still were in the American Conference championship last season.
The Soul will
be looking to prove that they are still here to contend for the ArenaBowl.
After a tough loss last week, Portland will look to notch its first win of the
season. Portland will need to limit turnovers, and they will need to get scores
quickly. Philadelphia will need to force turnovers, and they need to avoid a slow
start.
