Arena Football Power Rankings: Week 2

8. Los Angeles KISS

After the upset win over the Jacksonville Sharks, who had went to Arena Bowl XXVIII last season, everyone was looking for the KISS to show they were serious in their game against the Arizona Rattlers. They were unable to, getting dominated and losing by a final score of 69-28. It's too early to say this is the same old KISS team, but as of right now, it is.

7. Philadelphia Soul

The Soul usually never lose at home. In Week 2, however, the offense was stopped on fourth down twice in the first half and the team committed several turnovers. They were also outscored 17-0 at one point in their loss to the Jacksonville Sharks.

6. Tampa Bay Storm

The Storm were demolished in their first game of the season, losing 76-25 to the Orlando Predators in the AFL's 3,000th game. In Week 2, they were in position to pull off an upset win in Cleveland over the Gladiators. An interception in the end zone ended any hopes of them winning, as Cleveland's Joe Powell returned the interception for a touchdown to win by double digits.

The Gladiators were unable to do what the Orlando Predators did, and if it weren't for Joe Powell, the Storm might have won in Cleveland. But their defense stepped up at the right time to clinch the
team's first victory of the season.

4. Portland Steel

A lot of people won't agree with this spot for the Steel, but they did come a long way from their 80-28 loss to the Rattlers. They went into Orlando to take on the Predators, who had just dominated the Storm, and took them down to the wire. They played a much better game and may have even proved that they can compete with the better teams, as they only lost to the Predators by three.wt

The Predators did get to 2-0 on the season, but the win didn't come easy. They escaped with a three-point over the Portland Steel. They were not the same team that beat the Storm by 51 points, but they were able to pull out a win.

2. Jacksonville Sharks

The Sharks were shocked by the KISS in Week 1, committing several turnovers in the second half alone. In Philadelphia, they were the ones forcing the turnovers, forcing several Soul turnovers, including intercepting a few Dan Raudabaugh passes. They also stopped the Soul on fourth down twice as well as they won in Philadelphia for the second straight time.

1. Arizona Rattlers

The Rattlers showed that they could still dominate any team they want. After scoring 80 in their opening win against the Steel, the Rattlers scored 69 points against the Los Angeles KISS. They held the KISS to just 28 in the game, an average of which a team scores after just one quarter of play. The Rattlers are one of two undefeated teams still left, and their schedule is in their favor for next week, as they host the Tampa Bay Storm.
