LA KISS defense needs to step up against high powered Rattlers offense

azrattlers.com

The LA KISS pulled a shocking upset against the Jacksonville Sharks last week. LA has a chance to pull an even bigger upset this week when they face the Arizona Rattlers.

The Rattlers are the consensus best team in the Arena Football League. They are an experienced roster that just demolished the Portland Steel in Week 1, 80-28. By nearly scoring 100 points, you can tell the Rattlers have a fantastic offense.

In fact, they probably have the best offense in all of the league. This isn’t a one-time thing, as they lead the AFL in total offense last season. The KISS have a very a great offense themselves, but they won’t won on Saturday if they get in a shootout.

This is why the KISS defense will need to step up if LA wants to pull off another huge upset.

LA will need to rely on newly acquired Clevan Thomas, Rodney Fritz and Derrick Summers to lead the defense against a powerful Rattler offense. The KISS will need to contain quarterback Nick Davila, who threw five touchdowns last seasons.

Also, they will need to contain wide receiver Rod Windsor, who caught four touchdowns last game. While it seems nearly impossible to stop the Rattlers offense, nothing is impossible. First, LA needs to force turnovers, and make Davila feel uncomfortable.

Next, it is crucial that the KISS force Davila to move the ball around, meaning LA needs to contain Rob Windsor. Finally, the KISS need to limit penalties, as the Rattlers will take advantage of every opportunity given to them.

While the high powered Rattlers offense is hard to stop, all the KISS need to do is contain the offense. If they do that they should be in solid position to pull off another shocking upset.
