Arena Football isn't just all about offense.

The Arizona Rattlers used two pick sixes during a 27-0 run in the second quarter to lift themselves to an 80-63 win over the Philadelphia Soul last night before 11,067 fans at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix.

"I thought the defense took the game over," coach Kevin Guy said. "Offensively, we're keeping the foot on the gas pedal."

The Rattlers trailed for the first quarter and a half against the team they have tormented. The Rattlers have dominated Philadelphia since 2011, even beating them in two arenabowls back to back. But the tables finally turned on May 14, when the Soul defeated Arizona 61-54. Friday night the Rattlers again started slow, trailing 28-20 early in the second quarter.

The Rattlers offense was doing their job, now they needed their defense to come alive too. The Rattlers embarked on a 27-0 run to take control, 14 of those points came on defense with pick sixes from Arkieth Brown and Jeremy Kellem. A third touchdown came after the ball went off the crossbar and was recovered by Arizona. In just under five minutes, the Rattlers went from eight down to 19 up.

The Rattlers now own the tiebreaker with Philadelphia and will have home field advantage if they win out.
