After starting off the season 7-0, the Predators have lost
their last two games and are hoping to change their momentum with a trip to the
west coast.
The Predators have shown the ability to score points on
offense behind strong starts from quarterback Randy Hippeard and receiver
Brandon Thompkins.
Quarterback Randy Hippeard has thrown for 2,471 yards with
62 total touchdowns (57 passing, five rushing). Ranking first in those offensive categories.
Receiver Brandon Thompkins ranks second with 29 total touchdowns
(24 receiving, one kick returns, one rushing).
Orlando will have to cut down penalties to stop the current losing streak. Currently they average 10 penalties a game, the sign of
a undisciplined team.
However, in order to be recognized as a complete team,
Orlando will have to win games on defense. Defensive back Varmah Sonie has five
interceptions, 58 tackles and 18 total passes defended. Cornerback Kent Richardson
has recorded 46 total tackles.
This marks the second and final time the LA KISS are playing
Orlando this season. The Predators managed a win in week 4, 43-40.
Although showing signs of improvement since the season
started LA’s offensive has lacked big play ability, and ranks at the bottom of
the league in most statistical categories.
KISS quarterback Nathan Stanley has thrown for 1,538 yards
and 26 passing touchdowns.
Receiver Donovan Morgan has recorded 624 receiving yards and
21 touchdowns.
Short-yard specialist Rory Nixon is tied sixth in the AFL
with five rushing touchdowns.
In order to stop the Predators high-powered offense the LA
Kiss defense will need to make stops in the red zone. LA currently leads the
AFL in red zone defensive efficiency; Opponents have only scored on 69.4% of
red zone possessions.
This week 10 matchup will feature teams who are in must win
situations, and should prove to be a very entertaining Arena Football matchup.
