The Los Angeles KISS have decided to activate defensive lineman Mike Lewis to the 24-man roster, the team announced earlier in the day. The KISS acquired Lewis from the Orlando Predators in exchange for John Martinez and Logan Harrell in May.

“There is no doubt that Mike is one of the most dependable pass rushers in AFL history, LA KISS head coach Omarr Smith said. We are excited to see how this veteran will impact our defensive front for the remainder of the season.” Lewis (6’2, 260), is in his seventh season in the Arena Football League. The AFL veteran ranks second all-time in sacks (57), and he is the active sack leader in the AFL. Over his career, Lewis has tallied 141 tackles, 55.5 tackles for loss, 20 forced fumbles, and eight fumble recoveries.

Prior to joining the Predators this past offseason, Lewis has spent time with the Iowa Barnstormers, and the Utah Blaze. In 2011, Lewis earned Second Team All-Arena honors with the Blaze, after he totaled 10 sacks and a career-high 34.5 tackles. The next year, Lewis took home First Team All-Arena honors, after he set a Utah Blaze single season record, when he recorded 12.5 sacks. The next two seasons, Lewis earned Second Team All-Arena honors with the Barnstormers.

In 2013, Lewis become the first player in league history to notch double-digit sacks in three consecutive seasons. After having spent three of his last five seasons with Iowa, Lewis signed with the Las Vegas Outlaws. Lewis recorded 28.5 tackles and 9.5 sacks with the Outlaws last year.

The Huntley, Illinois, native played college football at Adrian College in Michigan. He set school records for sacks (40.5), tackles for loss (60.5), and fumble recoveries (7). When he was a senior, Lewis was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Defensive MVP, and he took home First Team All-American honors.
