The Los Angeles KISS are off to their best start in the franchise’s young three year history. LA is 3-3, a .500 record is the best through a minimum of five games in the history of the franchise. The KISS have not yet established themselves as contenders, but this year, they have beaten the Jacksonville Sharks, who were in Arena Bowl XXVIII last year.

They have also competed with the lone undefeated team, the Orlando Predators, as they lost by only three points. The KISS have shown they can hang with the big boys, and they are finally rounding into a sound competitor. New quarterback Nathan Stanley has made a huge impact for the KISS so far. The former San Jose Sabercat, has 127 completions, 1,345 yards, and 26 touchdowns this year.

Wide receiver Captain Morgan has been the ultimate target for Stanley this year. Morgan has 384 reception yards and 13 touchdowns this year. DJ Stephens has also been a main target this year, he has 496 yards and six touchdowns this year. The revamped defense has been a big part of the KISS turnaround. Fredrick Obi has a team leading three interceptions this year.

Rayshaun Kizer and Josh Victorian both have two interceptions. Obi is also leading the team in tackles with 27.5. Perhaps making the biggest of impacts is the head coach. Omarr Smith was an assistant with the Sabercats last year, the team won the Arena Bowl last year. Smith is an AFL Hall of Famer, and he has been a key cog in the KISS turnaround. He has implemented a new defensive system, and the offense is much improved with Smith at the helm. LA is off to their best start in franchise history, and they are establishing themselves as a true contender in the AFL.
