2016 Week 6 Preview: KISS vs Steel

On Monday, the winless Portland Steel (0-4) travel to Los Angeles to take on the L.A. KISS (2-3) for the first of two meetings this season. Due to the extraordinary circumstance of scheduling conflicts with the playoff run of the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers, both meetings will be home games for the KISS, in Anaheim’s Honda Center. This first matchup was originally scheduled to be a home game for the Steel, but the Moda Center became unavailable, causing the schedule shift.

Portland looks to earn its first win of the season, but they will have a large task in front of them as they are still trying to figure out their quarterback situation. The Steel had Kasey Peters calling the signals in their last game, but his production all season has been mediocre at best. Portland signed University of Oregon standout, and previously a member of the Portland Thunder, Darron Thomas to help the offense begin to work towards productivity. It will be interesting to see which player has the starting nod on Sunday.

The LA Kiss currently sit in second place in the National Conference. Their victories are not much to be impressed by, as they are over an under-performing Jacksonville Sharks (2-3) team, and a 2-4 Cleveland Gladiators team. With both of these matchups with Portland sandwiching a game against the Arizona Rattlers, Los Angeles is expecting a couple victories to help create momentum for the rest of the season.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT. Due to the unique arrangements surrounding the location of this game, tickets are still available online or for pickup.
